DENNIS REIMER, ESQ.
ShareholderDennis Reimer started practicing law in 1968, after receiving his Juris Doctor degree from Ohio Northern University. His practice is concentrated in the area of real estate law, mortgage foreclosure and civil litigation, and he has been recognized locally and nationally for his representation of clients in those areas. He has received considerable recognition for his expertise and service that he has provided to the mortgage banking industry.
Mr. Reimer received his undergraduate degree from Ohio Northern University, Magna Cum Laude, in 1965. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1968, the United States District Court in 1969, and to the United States Supreme Court in 1974.
Mr. Reimer is Senior Shareholder of the firm that he started in 1973. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cleveland Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers, and the Mortgage Bankers of America. The firm is a member of the USFN, AFN and the Mortgage Bankers Association. Mr. Reimer is past president of the Mortgage Servicing Society of Northeastern Ohio.
MICHAEL S. ARNOVITZ, ESQ.
ShareholderMichael Arnovitz joined the firm in 1999 and became a shareholder in 2004. He currently manages the bankruptcy department. Although his experience is primarily in the area of bankruptcy law, Mr. Arnovitz has handled commercial litigation, real estate, as well as corporate and probate matters. In bankruptcy he has been involved with matters ranging from representation of creditors and debtors in bankruptcy to representing bankruptcy Trustees.
Mr. Arnovitz received his Juris Doctor in 1985 from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University. Before that he received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Cleveland State University. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1986 and was thereafter admitted to practice for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, 6th Circuit.
Mr. Arnovitz is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio Bar Association, and the Cleveland Bar Association. In addition, he is Chair of the Bankruptcy Section of the USFN, the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He has been a frequent speaker for the local and state bar associations as well as seminars sponsored by clients and various organizations in which he is a member. He has authored several articles in the areas of bankruptcy law and creditors’ rights.
RONALD J. CHERNEK, ESQ.
ShareholderRonald J. Chernek joined the firm in June 2002 after ten years as a practicing attorney and an additional ten years in the banking industry. Mr. Chernek is the foreclosure manager for the firm. In addition to his practice in the area of creditors’ rights, he has an extensive bankruptcy background. He has handled general real estate as well as corporate and probate matters.
Mr. Chernek received a Juris Doctor degree in 1987 from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Dayton in 1978 and a Master of Business Administration from Cleveland State University in 1981. He is a member of the Ohio Bar and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Mr. Chernek is a member of the Education Committee of the USFN and is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Bar Association. He has authored articles on creditors’ rights and has lectured on various subjects relating to creditors’ rights, foreclosure, and bankruptcy.
CYNTHIA A. JEFFREY, ESQ.
ShareholderCynthia A. Jeffrey joined the firm in June of 2004. Ms. Jeffrey was the managing partner of a high volume creditor bankruptcy practice in a firm which handled creditor’s rights for the preceding ten years. Ms. Jeffrey has represented mortgage lenders, banks, credit unions, finance companies, automotive financiers, and retail credit card companies in Chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 proceedings.
Ms. Jeffrey received her Juris Doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1993 after receiving her undergraduate degree from Ohio State University in 1989. Ms. Jeffrey was admitted to practice in Ohio in 1994 and is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for both the Northern District of Ohio and Southern District of Ohio.
Ms. Jeffrey is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Cleveland Bar Association and NACTT. She is also a member of the Commercial Law League of America and the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys and has served as a Vice President on the Board of Directors for both organizations.
MICHAEL F. LORBER, ESQ.
Michael Lorber joined the law firm in 1973. Although his area of concentration is creditors’ rights, he has an extensive real estate and probate background and advises clients in areas of real estate contracts, closings, title and probate matters, in addition to matters involving creditors’ rights and bankruptcy.
Mr. Lorber received his undergraduate degree in 1967 from Miami University. He received his Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University in 1973. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1973 and was admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern District of Ohio and the U.S. Court of Appeals, 6th Circuit.
Mr. Lorber is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cuyahoga County Bar Association, the Cleveland Bar Association, the Ohio Land Title Association, and the American Land Title Association. He is also a Federal Mediator for the Northern District of Ohio. He has been a frequent speaker for local and state bar associations, the Land Title Association, and the USFN in the areas of bankruptcy law and creditors’ rights, as well as real estate title issues. He has written several articles for the Ohio Land Title Association and for several trade journals.
PETER L. MEHLER, ESQ.
Peter L. Mehler joined the firm in August 2002. He currently concentrates his practice in the area of real estate and creditors’ rights law. Mr. Mehler received his Juris Doctor degree, Cum Laude, from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2002. He previously earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Michigan in 1995. Mr. Mehler is a member of the Ohio Bar and is admitted to the practice of law in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Bar Association.
EDWARD A. BAILEY, ESQ.
Edward Bailey joined the law firm in 2003 after five years practicing in the creditors’ rights area, where he focused exclusively on bankruptcy. Mr. Bailey has represented mortgage lenders, banks, credit unions, finance companies and others in Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 proceedings. Mr. Bailey has handled matters ranging from non-dischargeability, preferences and lien avoidance issues to litigated matters. Prior to that, Mr. Bailey worked in a general practice law firm handling cases in the areas of bankruptcy, criminal law, domestic relations, and juvenile law.
Mr. Bailey received his Juris Doctor from the Capital University Law School in 1997. Prior to that, he received his undergraduate degree from Hiram College. Mr. Bailey was admitted to practice in Ohio in 1997, and is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for Northern District of Ohio and the U.S. District Court for Southern District of Ohio.
Mr. Bailey is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Ohio Bar Association, and the Cleveland Bar Association. Mr. Bailey is a frequent speaker on creditors’ rights and bankruptcy and has authored various articles on mortgage issues which have been published in the Ohio Mortgage Press and Ohio Lawyers Weekly.
EDWARD G. BOHNERT, ESQ.
Edward Bohnert joined the firm in 2004 after 24 years of private practice concentrating in foreclosure, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights litigation.
Mr. Bohnert received his Juris Doctor degree, Magna Cum Laude, in 1980 from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University, where he also served as a staff member and an editor of the Cleveland State Law Review. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, in 1977 from John Carroll University. Mr. Bohnert was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1980, and is also admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Ohio and Southern District of Ohio, and the United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit.
Mr. Bohnert has written and lectured extensively on topics related to foreclosure law.
STEPHEN R. FRANKS, ESQ.
Stephen Franks joined the firm in August of 2004 after practicing with a general practice firm. While with his prior firm, Mr. Franks’ practice included commercial litigation, debtor representation in Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcies, and trustee representation in adversary claims. Currently, Mr. Franks concentrates his practice to representing creditors in Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy cases.
Mr. Franks received his Juris Doctor from the University of Akron School of Law in 2002. Mr. Franks previously earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Cincinnati in 1999. Mr. Franks was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 2002 and thereafter the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in 2003.
Mr. Franks is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Cleveland Bar Association, Akron Bar Association and Southern District of Ohio.
FAYE D. ENGLISH, ESQ.
Faye D. English joined the firm in September of 2004. While with her previous employer, Ms. English’s practice included debtor representation in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. She also has experience in the areas of estate planning and contract law. Currently, Ms. English concentrates her practice in representing creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases.
Ms. English received her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from the University of Akron, School of Law in 2002. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University in 1994. Ms. English was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 2002 and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in 2003 and in the Southern District of Ohio in 2005.
Ms. English is currently a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cleveland Bar Association and the Akron Bar Association.
F. PETER COSTELLO, ESQ.
Peter Costello joined the firm in January, 2005. Prior to joining the firm, he was an Assistant Prosecutor in Medina County, Ohio. Presently, Mr. Costello represents financial institutions in foreclosure proceedings.
Mr. Costello received his Juris Doctor from the University of Akron School of Law in 2002. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida in 1990. Mr. Costello was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 2003.
He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Medina County Bar Association. Mr. Costello is also a former U.S. Marine Corps officer. He is also licensed to practice law in Florida.
DOUGLAS A. HAESSIG, ESQ.
Douglas Haessig joined the firm February 2005 as a Foreclosure Supervisor Paralegal while finishing law school. He was a Foreclosure Assistant Supervisor in a high volume foreclosure firm for the preceding three and a half years.
Mr. Haessig received his Bachelor of Arts from Franklin College in Indiana May 2000 and his Juris Doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law May 2005.
Mr. Haessig is a member of the American Bar Association and Ohio State Bar Association.
DARRYL E. GORMLEY, ESQ.
Darryl Gormley joined the firm May 2006. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced eight years in New York and Ohio. Mr. Gormley represents financial institutions in foreclosure litigation.
Mr. Gormley received his Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1991 and his Juris Doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1996. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1997 and the New York Bar in 1999.
Mr. Gormley is currently a member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals and the Medina County Bar Association,
JAMES P. LUCAS, ESQ.
James P. Lucas joined the firm’s foreclosure department in 2009. His prior experience includes representation of creditors in foreclosure and collection proceedings, as well as experience in bankruptcy law and general practice. His previous employment history includes work at a title company.
Mr. Lucas received his Bachelor Degree from John Carroll University in 2000 and earned is Juris Doctorate at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2004. He was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in 2005 and also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio.
KRISTI L. PALLEN, ESQ.
Kristi L. Pallen joined the firm’s litigation department in 2009. Her prior experience includes representation of creditors in foreclosure proceedings, including specifically those foreclosures filed in Cuyahoga County and Federal Court. She has previously worked on behalf of creditors in contested cases involving collections, bankruptcy and subrogation matters.
Ms. Pallen graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Ohio University in 2003 and earned her Juris Doctorate at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2006. She was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in 2006 and has also been admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Ohio.
